Skin surgery for skin cancer is an office-based procedure performed under local anesthesia to ensure patient comfort. It is utilized for the removal of skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. Skin surgery used to remove skin cancers includes two techniques:

  • Surgical Excision: The cancer will be removed along with some of the healthy tissue around it. The excised lesion will be sent to an outside laboratory for evaluation to ensure the cancer is fully removed.
  • Mohs Micrographic Surgery

Dr. Curcio is a dermatologic surgeon and a member of both the American College of Mohs Surgery and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.  She has completed a prestigious fellowship in Mohs Surgery and has performed thousands of Mohs surgery procedures, surgical excisions, and reconstructions.
